2021 Chiara Drocco - Barolo Campanelle Viti Cecchie

Chiara Drocco’s 2021 Barolo “Campanelle – Viti Vecchie” is a compelling expression of old-vine Nebbiolo from the Langhe, combining fragrant lift with the depth and structure expected of serious Barolo. The nose opens with crushed red cherry, wild strawberry and blood orange, layered with dried rose, violet, anise, liquorice and earthy woodland notes. With air, the wine reveals a more savoury side: tobacco leaf, dried herbs, balsamic spice and a subtle mineral edge.

On the palate, 2021 offers clarity and energy. Bright acidity carries the red-fruit core, while firm but refined tannins give the wine a long, architectural shape. “Viti Vecchie,” meaning old vines, adds concentration and complexity without sacrificing elegance. This is still youthful and will reward decanting before service, but its balance suggests excellent ageing potential. Serve around 16–18°C with truffle pasta, porcini risotto, slow-braised beef, roasted pigeon, game, or well-aged Parmigiano Reggiano.Barolo
